Il The new Training Center
Having established its own training school a long time ago, the company has now transformed it into a brand-new educational environment, using the most advanced design criteria and providing all users with an improved standard of living internally.
Being accommodated in an old, fully renovated building, the new Training Center includes a meeting room, two offices and eight classrooms, one of which is used for factory plant design and two for IT activities.
Inside, special wall colours have been selected to improve comfort; outside, the place is made immediately recognisable by odd shapes in coloured stainless steel. The Training Center is increasingly playing a twofold role as a repository and global divulger of the company’s know-how.
Every year the Training Center arranges courses for the approx. 3,000 employees (including white and blue collars, executives and managers) of ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni and its subsidiaries, totalling approx. 10,000 training days annually. Trainers are selected among the company’s experienced technicians or qualified teachers from external sources.
In June 2011, the Training Center was certified by the IGQ (the Italian Institute for Quality Assurance). Thanks to this achievement, training services have been given new impetus with a new internal organization and the redefinition of processes and roles. More attention has been paid to the qualification of teachers and suppliers and to the selection of supporting equipment, keeping the users’ satisfaction under continuous monitoring.
The IGQ certification has opened new opportunities, such as the offering of training services to external customers and the involvement of contractors’ personnel working inside company premises in training and educational activities, with the aim of increasing the skills of contractors’ employees and promoting their safe behaviour.
In July 2011, the Training Center was accredited as training agency on account of its ability to train and certify its own employees and those of its contractors, and it was included in Structural Fund planning.
