In implementing the renewal plan of the public steel industry, the Terni company was given the role of chief enterprise in production of silicious and inox steel cold rolled products as well as of forged pieces incorporating also other Finsider plants. With the further constitution of INDUSTRIA ACCIAI INOSSIDABILI, taken over by the ex TEKSID plant in Turin and with the complete acquisition of TERNiNOSS, the "Società Terni" became a holding with the name Terni Acciai Speciali.

On December 31st 1988, within the renewal plan of the Italian public steel industry, Terni Acciai Speciali transfers its plants to ILVA - that in the mean time had substituted the Finsider and became a multi division operative company - called Area Laminati Piani speciali (Special Flat Products Area).
